Men’s designer shirts – from G-Star to Diesel the choice is endless

Amongst fashion followers Men’s designer shirts are an essential wardrobe item. Offering a smart or casual look, the simple shirt has an endless supply of designs and influences. All the latest men’s fashion brands offer a wide selection including G-Star raw, Diesel, Bench and French Connection. From check to plain and short sleeve to long sleeve, a design is available to sort all tastes.

The humble designer shirt can be worn in so many different ways that the versatility has become a key fashion attraction. Catering from everything from a wedding to a night out on the town, whatever the occasion, the latest Men’s designer shirt can take care of things perfectly.

Recent trends within the world of Men’s designer clothing have seen the introduction of many new fabrics and wash techniques. As a result technical advances have led to groundbreaking concepts including indigo dye and distressed fabric treatments. This has opened up a world of possibility for fashion designers.

The latest Men’s shirts – on trend from check to chambray

Perhaps the biggest success in recent seasons has been the re-birth of the Men’s check shirt. A key trend, the right choice of shirt compliments the raw denim styling for a simple on trend look. Designer brands such as Fred Perry and Penguin have enjoyed great success catering for the demand with key styling cues such as button down collars and subtle brand detailing.

As with all fashion trends, constant change sees new twists on old styling influences. The denim shirt has once again risen to prominence and in particular the chambray shirt. The complete look can be achieved when combined with a pair of drop crotch chinos and a pair of espadrilles. This has become the style statement in the world of Men’s fashion.

This retro approach to twisting old trends has also seen a renaissance in the 80s fashion look. Influences include Men’s shirts featuring the use of a vibrant colour palette as well as contrast cross check patterns. This once again sits well with the ‘Miami vice’ theme currently running throughout Men’s fashion.

Men’s designer shirts – the oldest garment in history

Dating back to 3000 B.C, a linen shirt found in a First Dynasty Egyptian tomb is credited with being the oldest item of clothing in history. Up until the twentieth century the Men’s shirt was seen as an item of underwear.

The types of fabric used on most Men’s designer shirts are man-made fibre and natural fibre. Linen was the first natural fibre to be used, whilst cotton is the most common. Other materials include wool, ramie and silk, along with synthetic fibres such as viscose, polyester and tencel.
