About Us

Bridge55 first opened its doors in November 2001 in Bridgnorth under the ownership of life time friends Andy Southall (me!) and Craig Drescher. A gap in the market for affordable mens designer clothing was quickly capitalised on.

Craig had lived in the town for a number of years and I had previously been an owner in a local bar and this combination meant we understood what people were looking for.

Enjoying a very successful first 2 years the business was able to open a second store in nearby Kidderminster. Early days in Kidderminster proved to be very challenging with many people warning of the pitfalls of the decision. However, after important lessons were learnt the store began to grow, enjoying 40% growth in its third year and has now proved to be a big hit in the area.

The Kidderminster store was quite some building project, involving gutting a disused bingo hall, (and I mean gutting!) and converting it into a modern, contemporary layout with all glass frontage. The store would now happily grace the high street of any major town.

Owner Craig Drescher left the business in 2005 as he continued to pursue his career in the model car racing field within which he has become world famous and a European champion.

Growth has seen the business invest in people with Carly, Dan and Richard having joined over the last 3 years as the battle between increasing turnover and overheads brings new challenges. James also worked for 3 years as store manager before moving on.

The brand portfolio has increased also over the years and now includes G-star raw, Henley’s, Duck and Cover, Gio-Goi, Superdry and Bench to name but a few.

The website was first launched in 2006 and anyone who has owned an e-commerce business will testify just what a challenge in-terms of finance and hours this can be.

Having achieved a foot hold in the market a brand new site was launched in 2008. This investment in e-commerce totals more than turnover and represents a statement of our intent to establish ourselves as a key online retailer of mens designer clothing and fashion.

Having run Bridge55 since 2001 Andy is very ‘hands on’ and is involved in just about every aspect of the business. Being the owner means being a fire fighter and wherever there is a problem from the alarm going off to arguing with creditors, he’s there. Often seen networking with a beer in his hand at fashion shows in Barcelona, his drive is to see Bridge55.com establish itself as the 10th biggest mens designer clothing online retailer in its sector, famous for personal customer service.

Can I speak to a helpful human?

Can I purchase gift vouchers from you?

Yes, we provide online Vouchers which can be redeemed online, or you can purchase them in store to spend within our stores.

Can I get a mail order catalogue from you?

We are not doing these at the moment; however it might be something in which we will look at in the future.

How do I use the website?

Navigating the Bridge55 website is actually quite simple. You can either choose from type of category on the left hand side for example if you want to find a t shirt, or if you know you want to purchase something from a particular brand, then you can navigate from the right hand side. Alternatively if you know exactly what you are looking for then fill in the search box on the right hand side and hit go! From there, you can narrow down your search by choosing Brand/price/colour etc options on the left hand side.

Is it safe to order online?

Our site uses a very secure payment system backed, validated and hosted by HSBC bank. We choose HSBC because of their worldwide status, reputation and experience in the field of online security. Having payments through such a recognised name offers the customer peace of mind. Please note you do not have to bank with HSBC to purchase on our site.

The bridge55 payment system also uses secure sockets layer (SSL) encryption for the protection of sensitive information. Other features include the MasterCard secure code, verified by Visa and 3D secure system offering further layers of protection.

Do I need to sign up to use the website?

You do not need to sign up to purchase or browse, however you will receive exclusive benefits if you do such as being able to review items. Signing up is quick and easy and will only take a couple of minutes. If you are purchasing something, the only extra bit of info needed is an email address and password.

Can you help me find a present?

Sure we can! We have actually provided an exclusive gift finder! Alternatively, you can contact us and we can advise you as to what would make a great gift!

I have not received my refund?

We will process a refund within 3 days of receiving your parcel, and email to let you know we have received and processed it. After you've received your email, please allow another 5-10 working days for the refund to be credited to your account. The amount of time this takes will depend on which bank or card issuer you're with . We will credit your refund to the same card you used when you placed your order. If we can't do this (i.e. if the card has been declined, cancelled or has expired), we’ll send a cheque to your billing address

For all Christmas presents our exchange and refund policy is valid until January 7th 2009 and hence gives the customer 14 days to return the item after Christmas day providing the item was purchased after November14th. Our last post date is Tuesday 23rd December via next day service.

All orders placed before 3.45pm are guaranteed to be despatched the same day. We will even try to despatch orders placed later the sameday but no assurance can be given.

Orders placed via the guaranteed next day service before 3.45pm will arrive the following working day before 1pm.

We also have no control over customs and import charges and in the unusual event of this happening any fees due are the responsibility of the recipient. Returns

Hassle free exchange or refund.

If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase just send it back to us in its original condition within 14 days. The garment must be returned will all original tags and packaging. Please indicate on your delivery note if an exchange or refund is required. Upon receipt and examination we will exchange the item and despatch free of charge or issue a full refund for the value of the item.

However we do not refund the cost of delivery. Items sent free of charge via 2nd class recorded are subject to a £2.50 charge. Where the goods have been dispatched the cost of return postage is the customer's responsibility and we recommend using a recorded delivery service.

Refunds and exchanges are not available on underwear, earrings or other intimate items due to hygiene except where the item is faulty.
